22/10/2006 : Finding your God's purpose in the Secular

- Pst. Kong Hee

Finding your God's purpose in the Secular

Rom 8:28
Everything in life has a purpose
Eccl 3:11
I have a responsibility to find my purpose in life
If you only look for the supernatural in the spectacular, you will miss God
It is often in the world, in the secular, that you find God's purpose for our lives
Gen 2:15
Tend & keep: giving order to the world
Gen 2:19
God want an intelligent relationship between Him & Adam
Cattle: 12 species
Birds: 2,000 species
Beasts: 2 million species
Fishes: now a fisherman!
Adam's job just keep growing!
Then from a OMO: One man operation it became a family business! Eve & his family came about!
Gen 1:26-28
Adam was working in the world! From an entry-level farmer to the CEO of the world!
Gen 11:26
Abraham's talent: being a good father
Terah: to wait - slow character yet Abram honor his father
Abraham cared for Lot, his servants so much that his servants are willing to die for him & to fight for him
Gen 17:1;5
Joseph: entranced in the world
His talent? Interpret dreams; a problem-solver!
Gen 41:37-43
Egypt: world
Joseph is engaged into the world! He is also a hero of faith!
Heb 11
Gen 45:1-2
Joseph wasn't crying because he miss his family but because for the 1st time he discovered his purpose in life
Gen 45:4-8
1. Save his nation
2. Build his country
3. Preservation of Israel: lineage of Abraham -> 37 generations later, the Messiah is born!
Consider Moses!
His talent: a love for justice! But not matured yet
During his job as a shepherd: he saw how the desert nomads worship their idols; he also learned how to care for 3 million Israelites!
Esther? Only talent: pretty la!
Est 2:10
Matt 23:2-8;11
In the marketplace: you served! Not declare yourself as some leader of a religious institution?!?
Est 4:10-14
There was a plot brewing to destroy the Jews & the queen was dethroned!
But Esther stood up, being only a pretty girl (the whole time she only learned how to beautify herself), & the happiest festival in the Jewish community: The Feast of Purim is in celebration of Esther! She saved the nation!
Gal 2:11-13
Peter was a raciest!
Yet world mission was born in Peter's visit to Cornelius house! Because of his realization of his need to repent!
Stop separating the spiritual from the secular!
Enlightenment era: 200 yrs ago
Our God is not just the God of His believers but God of the entire world!
Arise & build is not about building a building but to build our lives! Our purpose, our roles, our conviction, our responsibility, etc.

01/10/2006 : Encounter With Destiny

-Pst. Kong Hee

Encounter With Destiny

Lk 5:1-2
To the people by the shore, it's only 2 empty boats, but not to Jesus. He is always looking at the situation with faith
Nets were being washed: Fishermen trying to maintain their livelihood
Like the nets, our lives are tattered & torn
But the fishermen have no idea that Jesus is going to give them an encounter with their destiny
Lk 5:3-4
Jesus spoke! The fishermen are going to hear Him & be changed into fishers of men
Importance of hearing God: prayers - communication
Sometimes we'll feel dissatisfied with our lives as the vision that God gives us is bigger! Do not be afraid! Do not back down!
Matt 22:35-40
Loving God wholeheartedly
Loving people fervently
Rom 5:8
Jh 3:16
Soul-winning is primary!
Doing God's work
What are you hearing today?
1. The voice of Criticism
People will put you down, but you're made in God's likeness!
2. The voice of Doubt
Circumstances can be intimidating but you have God!
3. The voice of Selfishness
To get, you need to give!
To receive, you need to share
4. The voice of Limitation
God is of no limitation!
5. The voice of Faith
God can prosper you!
We have unlimited possibilities with God!
Let down our nets!
Lk 5:5
There's no victory without a fight!
Don't be battle-weary! You just might miss the miracle catch!
Discouragement is not dissatisfaction
Do not be ready to give up!
Simply be dissatisfied!
Let down our financial nets!

20/08/2006 : The Power of the Mind

-A.R. Bernard

The Power of the Mind

Mid-life crisis = common to everyone; a period of emotional turmoil in middle age characterize by a strong desire for change
God do everything based on a pattern or a system, broad principals
We could work with it or ignore it
Relationship is the network for life
Resources is the other gift for life
Advancement in life is usually build on relationships
The quality & not quantity of these relationships determined our advancement
We are effective by the company we keep
Your friends' intimacy with you has to change as we move on in life if your friends are not willing to move on
All relationships begin with an introduction, then acquaintance, then friendship (sharing more intimate details of our life) & intimacy.
Not all relationships go thru the entire process
Few relationships moves into the stage of intimacy (a state of openness & vulnerability to another person)
Any disrupt in the process will mean that you have to suffer the consequences of the disruption: Death
Death begins with Dis-ease
Should we value a relationship but sins against it, do not wait to repent & ask for forgiveness:
Delay increases distance
The longer we wait, the further it will be between you & that person.
Distance is not measured in miles but in the amount of affection found in the relationship
Adam was created to be in an intimate relationship with God but when he sins against the relationship, death steps in!
Many efforts are needed to be put in, in order to restore the relationship
Abraham moved from introduction to acquaintance to friendship with God (he's called God's friend) but never moved into intimacy.
General revelation: based on His creations
Specific revelation: when God come down as a human: Jesus
Pattern is created to bless us not cursed us
Jn 1:
Knowledge is power
Knowledge of truth is even more power
Knowledge translates into authority
Lk 11:52
Counseling is meant for people who has problem implementing their training
Most people require training not counseling.
Many times we steps into things without information about it. (Often people rush into marriage without knowing what covenant it holds nor going through the 4 stages of a relationship)
How to train our mind?
Note: Our Mind = most powerful computer in the world
It can turn information into beliefs that will impacts our self-esteem, of which we will start to act it out (actions/behavior), which will produces resets which turns into habits which determined our success or failures
But to change the end, we need to start from the top. I.E. - renew the way our mind takes in information
Rom 12:2
Moreover we also need new information to renew our minds
Every decision is based on the information we have at that time & the way we think
But good information can be stop by bad minds
How does God reacts when Adam 1st sin?
He hits on information immediately! He asked,” who told you that…"
(note: whenever we ask a questions, it either to obtain information or to stimulate a thought; God never asks for information)
Jn 1:1-5
Thus when God wants to redeem us, He sent His word, Jesus which is God’s word! A new information!
But look at the parable of the wheat & the tares
God’s word is sow in people (the wheat) – Jesus step into our world
The world also contains Satan’s words in people (the tares)…they both co-exist. But does God removes the tares? No, because God is confident of the Word He has placed in us. Thus He is not afraid of co-existing with the wheat (His believers) co-existing with the tares (Satan’s lies) even when the tares’ roots are wrapped around the wheat’s root. Thus although we are immersed in the world, but we do not have to fear not worry as we’ve God’s word in us & we can be confident that the word can stand up against Satan’s lies.

19/08/2006 : Kristos Kia Kosmos

-A.R. Bernard

Kristos Kia Kosmos

Definition of world in Greek
1. Aion - age; period of time
2. Oikumene - land
3. Kosmos - order & arrangement of things; social order
Mk 16:15
The growth of Rev. Dr. A.R. Bernard’s church -
1978 - 1985: 4->300
1985 -1989: 300->625
1989-1999: 625->11k
1999-2006: 11k -> 27k
God has specific visions for everyone
God is a God of orders
Convictions of A.R. Bernard
1. Order - harvest is expected when we plant because of order (seasons come & go but they’ll never disappear; & physics never change which results in great inventions (like the sound systems of a concert)
Kosmos - original meaning: order of God
God created the world out of nothing thus He is actually not confined by this world yet because He created it thus the universal cannot be divorce from Him
He created an Open universal - free will (freedom & power of choice)
Why? Because God is love & there is no love without freedom of choice! So He took the risk!
2. Love is centered on the will not the emotions.
Thus God can command us to love Him, our parents, our friends, etc.
Thus we cannot fall in or fall out of love - cause it is a choice
The power to choose: Positive freedom
We are not free until we have the power to choose
If the universal is ordered, thus our choices have power: it can affect the universal
Yet Adam's choice re-orders the order God originally has put; so does this mean God is not sovereign?
No, because God is the alpha & the omega
He knows the beginning & the end!
Jesus was already prepared for Adam's choice
We cannot disobey without obeying
When Adam disobey God, he is obeying himself
Thus my choices determined my future - be careful about it!
We may end up being servants to our choices
Making better choices is based on the information we have & the way we think
It is essential that we take responsibility of our choices, least we blame other for our plight
Jh 1:1
Beginning - arché – the 1st cause
Word: logos (Gk.) - logikos - intelligence - mind
Thus this verse meant that - In the beginning is the mind of God & it cause & affect universal
Jesus was the mind of God: John saw beyond the physical body of Jesus because he saw the understanding of God
Jesus is the expression of God's mind!
Jh 1:4
Jesus was the light of men!
Every cause is an effect
Every effect has a cause
Some long-termed effects are so long that you don't know what are the causes anymore.
Jh 1:3
All: pas (Gk.) (everything! Even the things in decline - us!)
Jh 1:10
In Kosmos: God enter His creation without changing anything about Himself but Kosmos don't recognize it: it has changed so much that it don't recognize the creator anymore!
Jesus wants to re-order His creation or this chaos
Matt 19
Society is trying to re-order God's divine order
Sin is trying to influence our choices
But when we acknowledged our sins, Jesus starts to re-order our mind!
Every time we try to break from God's divine order, we malfunction
For example: God took out of man to make woman & never replace it thus it is not in man to be a woman. Often when we see a man wanting to be a woman, he is usually more feminine than a woman. Because in order to be recognized as a woman, who he is not, the man has to exaggerate his actions in order obtain that recognition.
Divine order leads to freedom
My life becomes free when I organize my life
Effectiveness in life demands order
Order demands a clear plan of actions
Trusting God is proactive not passive thus we need to make an impact on our society!
Acts 17:16-21
Kristos Kai Kosmos = Christ in Culture
Epicurean: believers of pleasure
Stoic: believers of fate
Areopagus: highest council in Athens
Athens is ever listening for new ideas
Acts 17:22-23
God is ever working & He has planned Paul to pass by Athens. Although Paul did not plan to stay in Athens yet when the opportunity arises Paul knows what to say & how to say
He also saw an opening in these people who believed they have an unknown god waiting to be discovered
Acts 17:24-28
We have to know that living, moving & having movement is not just about Christians but everyone!
We move in divine order whether we know or not.
But it is a matter of Common grace or special grace.
Common grace states that the sun shines on the just & unjust, while the special grace talks about God’s favor with His people. How Paul was able to preach in Athens unlike any other.
Acts 17:32:34
Only a few were saved…but who was the 1 saved?
Dionysius = devoted to dionysus (a Gk. god of fertility, entertainment & arts)
Western drama (arts & entertainment) is birth in the celebration of dionysus since 5B.C.
It gets arts & entertainment into the church
When Rome took over & it became pure entertainment after Rome falls, but later it entered church & for many years drama centered on the Christian faith
We never know when will we change lives but we cannot deny that we are the instruments of God to change lives. Paul never knows that Dionysius’ salvation symbolizes so much when he preaches that message and got Dionysius saved.

18/08/2006 : God in Culture in the Person of Jesus Christ

- A.R. Bernard

God in Culture in the Person of Jesus Christ

Educate, encourage & empowered
Lk 11:52
Knowledge is the key in life
We're limited by our knowledge in our attitude & character
Christ in culture
Four stages in Life that we go through as a believer
1. Nature: do not know God
2. Unlearned: saved
3. Carnal: know God but live like a nature
4. Spiritual: maturity
There're general & specific revelations in the world
This universal of law & order tells us that there's intelligence out there!
We need to move from this general revelation to specific revelation of ourselves
So God will want us to know what exactly He wants us to do as His children: a specific revelation of us in God with Jesus
As Israel gets baffled by the way Jesus reveals Himself as the Messiah the church become the agent to show who God is
We need to represent to the world who is Jesus - & methods of representation has changed
Visions should determined the methods
Let it be a dynamic representation! A Prophetic voice!
2 different Prophetic models:
1. Antagonistic: cries out & spares no one (Isaiah)
2. Relationship - Joseph & Daniel: do not go against but work changes in the society
Daniel was also a provision for God's people yet was greatly respectable by non-believers
Daniel understands the way of the Babylonians but he did not eat their food!
Jer 29:11
As we seek to be prophets for the Lord in the world in the future, we can face our future with 2 kind of attitude
Either with apprehension - because of internal fear,
Or anticipation - because of faith.
Jer 29:4-7
Jeremiah was in captivity by Babylon & God gave this hope!
Captivity is not the issue!
Because God thrive in anywhere!
It says in the scriptures to pray for peace of the country so that you will also have peace & prosperity!
It's now!
Pentecost says the spirit will be pour over all flesh!
Not just believers!
See the goodness & orders in chaos!
Relationships precede our ministry!
We can’t speak into lives of others when there is no trust between people
We're living in Babylon now!
We've work to do!
The people in the world are our mission!
The word ‘World’ has 3 different meanings in the Greek language
Matt 13:22
1. World: aion (Gk.) [age (Eng.)] - a period of time in human history marked by distinctive characteristic & achievements = Culture
Currently the world’s culture overshadows God’s word
But do not worry! We're protected! By Jesus who is in us!
Matt 13:39
Matt 24:14
2. World: oikumene (Gk.) - land, territories
God wants us to conquer different in His name
Mk 16:15
3. World: Kosmos (Gk.) - social order & arrangement of things: politics, education, economics, church, family, arts & entertainment
These 7 aspects are recognized to be the pillars of any society & we can seek understanding of any society by studying these 7 pillars of institutions.
They also tell you the spiritual health of the society
Love not the Kosmos (social order) but preach to them!
Jesus brings a new social order to the sinners!
We should be the experts of the marketplace: build it not destroy it
We do not lead people whom we fear
This is a world of negativity but we do not need to fear it & hide behind the church walls
Matt 12:28
We do not fear as Jesus has brought the future kingdom of God into the present through His miracles
Lk 10:8-9
Not the fullness nor the totality but it is the future experienced now!
So whenever we do Jesus' miracles, we're bringing the Kingdom of God into the presence
Ignorance is weakness
The only reason for ignorance in our times is stubbornness = refusal to be taught
Pro 1:11
Articulate our faith! We can only run with what we can read & understand.

Symbiosis = living together in close association of 2 dissimilar entities
Our greatest value to God is not going heaven but here!
So we were to live in the world but not of the world!
Freedom comes from active submission to God = thru Him, we have power
How not to be consumed by the world
By being in touch with the Word, wisdom & character of God!

06/08/2006 : FOP night 3

- Ed Silvoso

FOP night 3

There is a divine call to pulpit ministry
There is an equally divine call to marketplace ministry
2 dimensions: vertical & horizontal
Have to integrated both
Acts 2:45-47
Vertical – praising God
Horizontal – praise people
Acts 13
The Path to regional transformation lies in Acts 19 - Epheusus
Paul (pulpit minister) works with Priscilla & Aquila (marketplace ministers)
Acts 18:12-19
God reassured Paul that his work in the marketplace is good.
2. He set a business
3. The key role of extraordinary business
The journey takes 2 setbacks & 2 victories
Solely Religious ministry
Acts 13: Revival was shutdown by the authorities in Antioch
Acts 17: Thessaloncia: sent away @ night
Religion/Marketplace ministry
Acts 18: Corint: sent the judge away
Acts 19: Ephesus: Asiarchs are friends with Paul & they help to keep Paul in the place

The Asiarchs protected Paul as he was an asset to the city/ regions
Acts 20:33-35
How to be an asset to the marketplace?
1. Working hard
2. Helping the poor
3. Emulating Jesus
4. Giving rather than taking

The Four Directions of Faith

Eph 3:18-19
We're the temple of God & He lives in us!
Eph 3:20
Our God is very big!
1. Width: Have faith in Others
God is not oblivious to your weakness but He has faith in you!
Paul thank God for the Corinthian church
God believe in people & so must you!
2. Length: Have faith in your Future

Your amount of faith in your future will determined how far you will go
Gen 13
Do not be lead by your own wisdom or your own faith
Visions & dreams are a preview of our future
Eph 3:20
Secret of success

3. Depth: Have faith in Yourself
We move according to our self-esteem
Jesus was tempted because His identity as the son of God was not a forgone conclusion
Heb 10:11
Satan tempt Jesus in the toughest area: His security!
Let our security lies in God not people
4. Height: Have faith in God
Mk 11:22

FOP night 1

God has tremendous faith in you!
Jud 6:11
1. God has a better opinion of you than you have of yourself!
The enemy of faith is memory: it keep reminding us that we've failed before in our lives
Can we believe in miracles? God is a miracles-giving God!
Jud 6:25-32
2. When you go for the nations, God will change the opinion of others of you!
The devil has to put up with Gideon!
The devil has a better opinion of Gideon after that
3. God will change the opinion of the devil of you!
Jud 7:10
Purah was a slave who brought Gideon up! He is older & wiser, but most importantly is that he is also faithful & loyal
The purah-anointing: to give good sound advice
No glory! If you want to see what you haven't see, you need to do what you haven't done before

Faith for healing

Jam 2:23
Abraham is the only person in the Old Testament that's called God's friend: he has faith
Jh 15
Friends of Jesus
Heb 11:6
Mato 13:23
Faith is needed in 3 people during the healing
Mk 16:18
1. The one praying: it can be supernatural
2. The one receiving: even if it's 1 side only
3. The one standing in the gap: the centurion, the one asking
We limit God when we don't pray
Matt 15:21-28
Gentile calls her Jesus' messianic title: son of David
This gentile's faith moved God so much that God move even though it's not her time
Faith = revelation + personal conviction + action
Rom 10:17
We all need to cry out to God for a revelation of Him: nature, word, will
We need a personal conviction that God is for us, not just an intellectual understanding
Heb 11:1
We need an experiential knowledge of God
Corresponding actions
Jam 2:17

09/07/2006 : The RQ Factor Part B

-Pst. Robb Thompson

The RQ Factor Part B

Believe in the word of God not others' opinions
Physical quotient = PQ
Ps 37:25
2 Cor 4:18
Hos 4:6
Destroyed because of ignorant
Ignorant = you chose to ignore it
Rom 15:4
Quotient means its measurable
RQ = Relationship quotient
If you don't make use of your RQ the following will happen:
1. When you get older, you will get very lonely
2. You will live the center of your life & be very selfish & without achieving the destiny of your life

It is the height of deception and arrogance to believe that we determine the outcome of our lives. While in truth, they are determined by those whom we granted access to

Satan can only plans for your distraction not your destruction

Granted access = allowed that person's voice to be influencing you, to be in you

Matt 4:1
The 1st thing that God do when we are saved He kill us
We love people, around us, mores more than God does

Good does not influence evil, evil influence good
How many of us really become what God wants us to be?

1. Every relationship has both rules to enter & remain
Est 2:15-17, Mk 8:34-35
2. I love you so much that I'd rather you dislike me for telling you the truth than for you to love me for telling you lies
Gal 4:16; Pro 27:6; Gal 12:11-14
Rom 15; Gal 6:1
3. Your future is completely dependent upon the quality of people you call 'friend'
Pro 13:20, 2 Chr 20:35-37
Evil is a persuasion while good is a choice
Evil in the sight of the Lord: allowing evil in your life; not murderer or rapist; these are evil in the sight of men
We've been given a gift to influence others
4. The value you place on any relationship is immediately revealed by the price you are willing to pay for it
Matt 10:37-38; Luk 7:37-50
5. Your seed is the only influence you have over your future
1 Cor 9:6-7; Isa 32:20; Eccl 1:11-16 What we have in our hands are for the preparation of our future finances

02/07/2006: Hold On To Your Vision

-Pst. Tan Ye Peng

Hold On To Your Vision

Jer 29:11
Phil 3:12-15
Paul was in his new life, but there's still resistance
Press on!
Matt 16:13-19;21-23
What made Peter rebuke Jesus?
1. Because he love Jesus
2. Because he has given up everything to follow Jesus
Matt 16:24-27
To follow Jesus is no easy task. There're no shortcuts!
Peter sounded just like satan during the temptation: easy way, instant success
Gen 3:5-6
We all have desires to be successful, wise & all-knowing, but we all hope we can get it without any hard-work, easily, instantly...
Matt 16:5-12
God is a God-of-more-than-enough!
What matters is the doctrines of God
We must know that God's way is the cross-way
Matt 16:25-26
When I do not know who God is, I will make foolish choices, I will settled for something lesser, I will take the easy-way-out.
I will lose my calling
Exo 32:1
They lost their vision, Moses, they lost their future, Promised Land, they return to their familiarities: idolatry, area of bondage
We cannot be dismayed by giants in life, do not forget that we've a giant living in us too
Matt 26:6-16
It was for Jesus' burial
To Judas, Jesus was a breadwinner
He know finances were pouring in through Jesus' ministry

02/06/2006 : Encounter with Destiny

-Pst. Kong Hee

Encounter with Destiny

Lk 5:1-2
Man always sees the situation but God always sees the potential
Acts 2:17
God is a source of all potential
Omnipresence
Omission
Omnipotent
Lk 5:2
This net is like our lives, we need mending in our lives.
Lk 5:3
Jesus walk into the boat of simon's life & simon is about to encounter destiny
Rom 10:17
Destiny is found in God's word
Many voices is fighting for your attention
1. The voice of criticism
But look at God's promises for you!
2. The voice of doubt
But nothing is not important of you to God! Even your hair is important!
3. The voice of selfishness
In order to get, we need to give!
4. The voice of limitation
But there's also
5. The voice of faith
In God all things are possible!
If you let the 1st 4 voices affect your initial failures, then you'll never reach your destiny.
You can be dissatisfied but not discourage
Dissatisfaction is because you know you can achieve more!
Discouragement is Satan's way of pull you into his dump
Faith is spell RISK
It takes risk to have faith
Simon Peter remains the only other person than Jesus in the past 2000 years to walk on water
He, for your reminder, walked back to the boat with Jesus! He has faith in Jesus
Lk 5:5-6; 8-11God loves to save you but He wants even more to be your Lord & to bring you to your destiny

21/05/2006 : Daniel Among The Babylonians

-Pst. Kong Hee

Daniel Among The Babylonians

Jh 17:14-17
We don't embrace the 7 deadly sins & don't have the spirit of the world
But Jesus doesn't ask of us to be removed from the world only to be protected from the evil.
He wants us to be cleansed
Matt 5:13-16
Jesus wants us to do His work! To mingle with a Godly-attitude!
How has God reacted to temptations?
God placed the tree of the knowledge of good & evil in the middle of the garden fully knowing that it has the ability to tempt Adam. So why didn't God chopped down the tree?
Innocence is not virtue
Virtue is not innocence
Virtue is innocence TESTED

Then will you have power over temptations
So we're still in this world:
1. Religion
2. Family
3. Business
4. Education
5. Government
6. Arts
7. Media
3-7 = marketplace
Dan 5:11
Daniel dressed in the Babylonian's robes but has holiness in his heart.
Dan 1:17
Daniel is well-trained in the in Babylonians' arts & sciences (satanic practices) afterall he was their chief!
He was not innocent!
He was a real counsel to King Nebuchodnezzar
But can anyone says he's not a true man of God?
Dan 5:12
Excellence is the attention to details that give rise to superior performance which leads to promotion in life.
Belteshazzar = Bel will protect his life
Shadrach = moon god

The power of prayer: intercession!

Ps 78:40-44
A failure in the marketplace doesn't qualify you for a place in the ministries of God at all
Busy & important people are always chosen to do God's works
The materials-side of a person is the manifestation of the spiritual of that person
Ps 78:1-12

Ps 144:12
Men: Being a strong & fruitful plant in the house of God
Women: Being a beautiful pillar of the house of God

The foundation of our faith: prayer

Matt 9:37-38
Everything of God, (faith, power, courage, etc.) is build on the foundation of prayer
So we have to pray! The whole-mindedness kinds, not just the constant rumblings we do in the day
Prayer is relating to Jesus & communing with God
Prayer is about relationshipping with God & getting to know God
He is the most important thing in our life
Matt 10:1
Everyone will do something for God but it's different to do something of God
We must pay the price of prayer to do His works
Walk with the Holy Spirit
Rom 8:26
The Holy Spirit is your lawyer! Your advocator!
Heb
We can come into the Most Holy Place as the veil of the temple has been torn into 2!
We can come into a connection with God through prayer!
Be careful that the world is after your heart too, we must make the choice between the world & Jesus
Because whatever the world could offer to you is only secondary to what Jesus could give you. Don't be deceived by the world instead be known that completeness is only found in God
Get cleaning from Jesus every day of your life: repentance
There's no repentance without 1st forgiveness of others
Passion is then your next step: read the living word of God!

-Pst. Mark Conner

1 Tess 1:2;8
CHC is impacting the world!

Igniting Your Spiritual Passion

Rom 12:9-18;11 (diff versions)
We're saved & called by God. Have a purpose & the passion to serve that purpose
Zeal = fervency
Passion is a fire that is inside that affects outside
God works on a perpetual enthusiasm!
75% of the US presidents ranks in the lower rank of IQ
50% of the Fortune Magazine CEOs averages C- in school
Intelligence is cool but passion makes the difference
Enthusiasm & persistent makes an average person superior while indifference & lethargy makes a superior person average
4 passion-killers
1. Complacency
Jos 13:1
Before in Jos 12, there lies a list of 31 kings that Joshua has conquered & God is here to remind him that there's still more!
Jos 14:10-12
Caleb kept his passion even @ 85
2. Difficult Circumstances
Isa 43:1-3
We'll pull through
3. Unbalanced Lifestyle
Pushing ourselves to driveness to burn out
Always takes care of yourself so that you can be useful to others
'Self-care'
Rhythm to life = activity & rest
Jesus draws near to the crowd & withdrew from them
Time management vs energy management
Christianity is a series of sprints!
4. Familiarity
Things that are precious turns common or routine!
Religion is going the motions without the emotions
Ehpathtic
Lukewarmness is serving God by trying not to offend the devil

How to keep your passion burning?
1. Activate your spiritual gifts
Jh 4
Fuels you whenever you use it!
2 Tim 1:6-7
Want to know gifts, try looking at your frustration
We may not all be prominent but we're all significant!
2. Associate with people of passion
Heb 10:24-25
Because the devil always has his fire-fighters. It's up to you to decide if it is holding a water-pistol or water hose
3. Return to your 1st love
Rev 2:45
What did we when we 1st started
1 Tim 1:12
If you think your life is tough, make a list of your problems on 1 side of a paper & Paul's challenges on the other side

Isa 53:6
Never in history has a saviour ever gone through so much for His creation.
Even Pontius Pilate says Jesus don't deserve death.
Jesus was so tired that He fall down but never once did He complaint.

Connecting to People

Col 2:18-19
The faculty of vision is in the head: Jesus is in our vision & getting us connected back to God
This is also our tasks now!
Matt 9:37
Do not depend on the sinners to change before they come to God, but depend on us! Our attitude towards them, our interests in their life is what will change them! Jesus asked us to pray for the laborers not the harvest!?!
Gal 4:9

Jh 7:38
Don't keep focusing only on ourselves
2.We need to lift up our eyes from being cast down
Meditate on the beautiful
3. We need to lift up our eyes in the way we look at people
Look at people thru the "harvest eyes"
Be a witness!
Give an account of Jesus' ministry!
Jh 1:35-42; 43-45
Acts 1:8

It's not about the five-fold ministry anymore! These departments have been restored since 1950s! It's about the ministry of the Saints! Crossing the Line

A "Paradigm" is the way you are used to thinking & doing things
If we get stuck in a past successful paradigm too, then we'll never move on! Especially in the Christianity circle: we must be willing to step across the line
Mk 4:35
Over the different barriers in life: spiritual,
Conformity is the shortest route to acceptance in a crowd
The crowd loves low-risks
Christians today are living in a paradox: we want to live with meaning & adventures in our lives but we want to be in our safety net too!
What lines do we need to cross?
1. The Line of the UNKNOWN
Heb 11:8
Want a boring life? Just repeat what you've done yesterday ;)
2. The Line of the IMPOSSIBLE
Mk11:11-12
All things can be arranged
"God delights in the impossibility" - Charles Spurgeon 1834-1892
If your job is nothing special, why do it in the 1st place?
3. The Line of POSITIVE AFFIRMATION
Don't depend on others' encouragement & praises when you want to do something great for God
Est 4:14-16
Heb 11:13
Abraham died doing something that he never personally saw
He did it for the future generations!
It's not about reaching the destination but the journey
4. The Line of the PULL of the World
Heb 11:15
Don't be stopped by cold water
Gal 6:9
Be ready to be stretched!God will not stop bringing breakthroughs in unless you stop believing in breakthroughs

19/03/2006 : The Compassion Of Jesus: His Grace Towards The Adulterous Woman

- Pst. Kong Hee

The Compassion Of Jesus: His Grace Towards The Adulterous Woman

Jn 8:1-12
Pharisees: hypocrites!
They were also badly exposed by Jesus for their hypocritical characters & they were disgusted by His kind attitude towards sinners
Jn 8:4-6
The Pharisees thought that it's a good chance for them to trap Jesus with this scenario
Jn 8:7-9
Many scholars agree that Jesus was probably writing the 10 commandments & the Holy Spirit convicted their hearts of their sins through the confrontation of the 10 commandments
And just like them, all of us has sins in our lives
The only person justified to stone was Jesus
The woman know in her heart that Jesus was the only person who is worthy of stoning her
But Jesus set the woman free!
This text was a problem-text: Jesus was supposed to judge her but He set her free?
Because Jesus know He was already on His way to the cross for her sins!
He is not here to condemned anyone

-Pst. Kong Hee

The Prodigal Son

Lk 15:11-12
Prodigal son: only want money & love the world
V. 13 Prodigal: wasteful, wild & reckless
V. 14-16 The broken-down world let him down & left him with nothing
God is not responsible for the bad news of this world, we're the ones breaking the rules of God
Humiliation was thrown on the son
V. 17 The son realised that he is 100% responsible for the mess in his life & not anyone else = true repentance
V. 20 The father's heart, mouth, arms & feet are merciful: love, kisses, hugs & run to the son
He humbles himself & reach out towards his son
V. 21 the father gave this son honor & authority over his estate again & he celebrated & gave him full reconciliation!
Just like God has given us His son

Hurt, heal & ready to help
In Christ, we're never too late
Self-image & my future
2 Cor 5:17;21
Made right with God: He gives us righteousness
We're now made wonderful in God
Even in our mistakes, God loves us!

Go into the deep to get a haul of blessings
Die to yourself
Don't let your feelings to rule you!
Let the word of God to rule you!
Vision of God comes in levels & degrees & He'll test you in every level.
When we ask God for something bigger, He'll have something to test about us before He could give it to us.
In order to go up higher, we need to go deeper.
God is more interested in our personal life than our church-life!
Lk 5:5-6
We're only spiritual when we do the word & not only knowing the word.
It's not easy to stop living to our feelings but it's easier than living in bondage to our emotions
Live boldly!
