28/08/2005 : Living Out Jesus

-Pst. Ulf Ekman

Living Out Jesus

Col 3:3
1 Jh 2:12
Growing in the Kingdom: moving from infants to children to young adult to adult to parents to elder

1st step: His death is our salvation:- learning to receive & give freely
Opening our eyes to this fact.
No longer under the curse of sin but we've been blessed by Him.
He is the solution to all our problems
Heb 4:16
Therefore = there was something there before.
Come boldly & receive daily!
2nd step: His life is our example : being a follower of Jesus.
1 Pet 2:21
Matt 11:28
This verse is not for freeloaders but people who work. Jesus do realise that we can be tired in the work. So He gives us rest so that we'll not be tired of the work.
"learn from me" : learn from Jesus.
The Christian walk is not easy but with Jesus there will be an easiness about it.
Meekness: peaceful in tough situations
3rd step: His glory is my life:- loving God
2 Pet 4
2 Cor 3:18
Throwing away the wordly aspects of us : slowly we are filled by His glory.
Glory = personality of Christ.
2 Cor 11:2
Longing for God is a weapon against satan.Purity of the bride of God

21/08/2005 : God Discovered

-Ps. Sy Rogers

God Discovered

1. God seems deliberately mysterious
Isa 45:15
Pro 25:2
God doesn't control you every moment; rather He has already given you His presence
Isa 45:19

2. God's ways are so far above me that sometimes it seems unpredictable & frightening; He has the eternal view in His mind.
Isa 55:8
Being born again does not mean good-luck charm.
But God is always & always good & you can be confident in His character.
Faith is: believing in God's good character even when life gives you reasons not to.

3. God is responsible for everything
Pro 2:7-8
Isa 45:7
He doesn't create bad things but He does takes responsibility for them.
Jesus can throw us away but He didn't.
We may be in a mess now but as long as we open our heart & ask the judge for justice, He'll give it.
Pro 3:5-6

4. God is nice to me & treats me like I don't deserve it.
Ps 103:2
Graciousness is the art of hospitality where a person of lesser status or a stranger is made to feel welcomed, at ease & valued.
Jer 15:19

14/08/2005 : Worship

-Ps. Kong Hee

Worship

Lu 10:38-42
Some people will look like they are working for the Lord - like Martha
But the Lord, Jesus, is looking for people who just want to spend time in His presence: People who are willing to do anything for God, not just offering their best.
Don't be a professional Christian, but a follower of Jesus.
V.42 Mary chose the 1 good thing: worship - more than a song.

1. Worship is waiting upon God.
Mary sat at Jesus' feet.
Isa 40:30-31
To "wait upon the Lord" means lit. to entwine yourself in the presence of God.
Slow down & just wait for Him.
The Holy Spirit cannot be rush.

2. Worship is undistracted focus on God
Jer 30:22

3. Worship is extravagant adoration of God
Worship is proskuneo in Greek: is to prostrate before God: kissing His feet
Lu 7:38

4. Worship is unconditional sacrifice to God
Giving your whole life to God.
We must know God beyond the fact that He's our provider but as the Creator of the universal as well.

07/08/2005 : Weekly Word @ SIS

-Pst. Kong Hee

Weekly Word @ SIS : The importance of vision

Matt 16:21-23
The disciples only saw Jesus' death & not that He will on the 3rd day
Vision is the picture of the future; thus no vision = no future
A man without vision will always return to His past.
Matt 26:12
Judas treated Jesus' ministry as a money ministry
Matt 26:14-16
Judas saw that his future is going to be gone thus he turn back to his money-loving past.
Peter, on the other hand, got a revelation that Jesus is the son of God.
He has many things still on his even though he is following Jesus.
He have a business, a wife, mother-in-law, etc.
Peter, too, also saw his future in jerpody. Thus he denied Jesus thrice.
Jn 21:3
Went back fishing.
Jn 21:6-7
Same situation but this time Peter jumped into the water & swam towards his vision: Jesus.
Self-esteem is the foundation of your life.
To survive in a great land we must be bigger people.
For people who lose their their vision, they would usuallly either sucide or try to recapture their vison.
So are you judus or Jesus?
