4 things that God dislikes
Phil 3:13-14
1. God dislikes it when we stop trying
But it does not mean to not rest
Mat 25:14-20
At least we need to double our talents
Mat 25:21-25
If we are lazy or we stop working then we will never be successful
Only when we are successful then will God give us more talents
Act 2:17
We will be filled with the Holy Spirit so that we can do more things
2. God dislikes regret
Don't be late in doing things
If we need to repent, then be quick to repent before we forget
Difference between David & Saul - because David is quick to repent
Saul is not better than David but David is only better because he is quick to repent
Eph 5:15-18
3. God dislikes waste
Rest is not waste but we need
Francoise Sagan 1935-2004
French Novelist
Claimed that she's the right to waste her health & indeed she died a very sad life
Only writing was her forte
Lena Maria
Singer, Author, writer
Stand up for herself & went onto win alot awards & also medals
Maria seems like someone with little talent but she led a happy life
4. God dislikes ungratefulness
Be thankful for our parents, teachers, etc.
Satan will make us want to compare then complaints but that's not good
Good compare makes us happy & we can be grateful towards Him
But if we seek to complaints then it'll only upset God

2. Unforgivness provokes God's Anger
Mat 18:33-34
3. Unforgiveness leads to Torture
Mat 18:34

Job 5:2
Stop resentment!
You're anchored in the past!
C. Don't Nurse it
Don't feed it
Eph 4:16-27
It's ok to be angry but don't stay angry always & keep nursing a grudge
D. Disperse it
Let it go
Gen 41:51
"Manasseh" meant "forgetfulness"
Heb 8:12
God forgives by forgetting
E. Let God Reverse it
God is righteous & just so don't try to be the judge
Our only job was to learn how to forgive

The Valley of Dry Bones
Eze 37:1
We need the presence of the spirit before we can make things work
What represents the Holy Spirit?
1. Dove - peace
2. Fire - zeal
3. Oil - anointing
4. River (water) - refreshing

6. Breath - life
Every difficulty that we going through is for a reason

So many people are dying away
Eze 37:3-4
God is asking for a revival!
Can we hear from God? God has a rhema for you
We can't go to war without an offensive weapon & only defense
With the rhema, only then can we speak it out
Mak 11:23
We need to speak it out 3times more than we pray
Make your coincidences into a God's incident
Growth comes from the joints & we need to be joined to have nourishment
Mat 18:19-20
Pro 27:8
Eze 37:8-9
We need to overcome & have the Holy Spirit within us so that we can become alive again
Only with the Holy Spirit can we experience transformation
Act 2:1-4
Holy Spirit produces 3 things in us
1. Power (Acts 2:14)
2. Love
3. Sound Mind (Acts 2:16-17)

28/03/2010 : Six Phases Of Faith
-Pst. Kong Hee
Six Phases of Faith
Mat 14:24-33
Faith is like muscle - it needs to be build up
Everything that God does is based on the kingdom's principles-very predictable
So is building our faith
Phase 1: God gives me a dream
Mat 14:28
A goal, desire is all where it started
A dream from God will require faith
Phase 2: We need to come to a decision
Mat 14:29
Peter acted out his dream
We need to invest our time, effort & leave our comfort zone for our dream to come to pass
If we procrastinate on our decision -we as good as willing our dream to Satan
Phase 3: We will face difficulties
Mat 24:30
Part of God's plan to build up our faith
Phase 4: We may face delays
Mat 24:30
My dream today won't be fulfil tomorrow - seed, time & harvest
God is more interested in my character than my project
Why do we need to wait? Because it will teach us to trust in God- that He will come to pass for us
Delay is not denial
Phase 5: We then reach a Dead-End
Mat 25:30
Abraham - father of many nations
Rom 4:19
Abraham after having his name changed by God was facing a dead-end
But God doesn't play games or make mistakes
We will be exactly where God wants us to be
Do we need to make the decision that we needed to make but procrastinated upon?
Jer 33:3
Phase 6: Deliverance
Mat 14:31-32
Jesus is a miracle-working God
Our impossibilities are God's opportunities
All the heroes of faith went through the 6 cycles
Isa 40:30
How to WAIT upon the Lord
Withstand : Eph 6:13
Anticipate : Psa 27:13 TLB
-Expectation is the atmosphere for miracles!
God works accordingly to our faith not our talent, welfare or situation
Heb 6:19
HOPE : Holding On & Praying Excessively
Intercede : Luk 18:1
Don't give up on our prayer life
Psm 5:3
No instant results - pray until we get a breakthrough
Prayer Life - Only this separates the Christian & the Spiritual Giant
Trust : Pro 3:5-6
Acknowledge God in all our ways - then He will direct our paths
God is never early or late but He is always on time

21/03/2010 : What it means to be a Christian
-Pst. Tan Ye Peng
What it means to be a Christian
History seems to tell us that to know God, we need to chase after Him
But that's not what it is stated in the bible
-For issues of Love you must go personally
That's why Jesus came personally to know us & this didn't stop after He ascended int Heaven but it continued till today by the Holy Spirit
Let's look at our the disciples in the Book of Acts show themselves to be called Christians
Act 1:4-8
The Jews thought that Jesus is here only for them & thus He was the finale but Jesus has bigger plans
Act 2:1-4
-Hebrew-speaking Jews receiving the Holy Spirit
Act 2:5-8
Jesus planned it that the Hebrew-speaking Jews received the Holy Spirit in the day of Pentecost where they have a chance to meet other Jews.
The Holy Spirit will enlarge our circle of love unlike the thinking of the Jews
Act 2:38-41;46
With that, the first group of new-born believers were added into the kingdom of God
During the week of the Pentecost celebration, the believers grew
Act 4:4;18-21
But the moment the believers start to grow, the persecution started
The devil wants to contain them
Act 4:29-31
But the Holy Spirit can do great things through the believers
Acts 5:2-6
We need to be changed to God- Holy Spirit will tell you what is endorsed in God
Through Ananias- the believers learned that they need to be changed by God & also learn of the Holy Spirit powers
Acts 6:1-5
Conflicts-solvers! Disciples fill with the Holy Spirit were chosen over other criteria
Act 7:51-60
Stephen forgave murderers!
1 Cor 3:1-3
Do not use the word of God to knock others
A spiritual person is someone who forgives & loves, someone who brings peace & resolve conflicts
A house divided among itself will not stand
Act 8:1
The apostles stayed on despite all the opposition because they are united & rooted
Acts 8:4-8
Samaria is a safe place but uncleaned place but it's where the most miracles happened
There's no place that the Holy Spirit won't go
Acts 8:10
Even the most terrible person can receive God's love
Acts 8:14-17
The apostles send their leaders to accept the believers in the Samaria
Acts 9:1-5;9-17
Ananias was brave- he was initially afraid but he was brave
- Saul (the persecutor) was accepted into the family of God
Act 10:1-2;44-45
Peter was able to bring the words to the Gentiles
Act 11:26
After going through so much - they then are able to call themselves Christians
Christians are followers of the anointed one with characteristics of the Holy Spirit - united, accepting of all & peace-loving

We can build our spiritual muscles with mediating His word
We need to keep our eyes on the ball if not we will lose
Likewise we need to keep our eyes on God's word so that we can lead a victorious life
Rom 8:26
We need to visualize our victorious life before we've a chance of living it out
Have & set goals
God looks at the spirit of the man & not at male or female
Rom 10:10
God is not going to drop someone from the sky to change the world. He's waiting for us to be the change agent
We can be the beacon of light in the midst of darkness- thus we are to go into the darkness

Vision Weekend 2010
Summary of 2009 achievements
Membership has crossed 30,000
Breakthroughs has been seen in all the various departments
Rev 2:1-3
CHC is like the Church of Ephesus - a church of great works
but Jesus then continued in verse. 4
But the church of Ephesus has a flaw - no longer as devoted
Jesus is not angry but He is warning them to return to their first love - otherwise they would burn out very quickly
thus likewise, we need to keep ourselves in-check every once in awhile
The key of never losing our first love is to keep the close relationship with God - commune with The Holy Spirit
Who is The Holy Spirit?
1. The Holy Spirit is a Person
2. The Holy Spirit has a Presence
3. The Holy Spirit carries a Power
He has an anointing - like oil
Acts 10:38
Ps 92:10
Functions of Oil
1. Oil lubricates
2. Oil burns
3. Oil moisturises
We need The Holy Spirit daily in our lives for the functionality of our spiritual lives - thus we need to check the oil in our lives
Oil has the tendency to evaporates, leaks & it can gives sore throat if it's used to fry things
Thus we need to check if the oil is good & if it's sufficient
The Holy Spirit will make use spiritually hungry & thirsty
Ps 42:1
As we moved into the new building, we will grow in our attendance but we need to keep our first love always.

21/02/2010 : Rich God? Poor God?
-Pst. Kong Hee
Rich God? Poor God?
CNN news- Passion over posperity
Mat 15:3,6
We will end up what we choose to believe
A traditional value that was passed down - the poorer you are, the more holy you are
We were programmed to consider that the rich people are not righteous
Because only money-loving people makes money
Economists however tell you that poverty has so much adverse effects!
Malnutrition, depression, crimes, higher mortality & etc.
Pro 10:22
Deut 28:43-45
Poverty is a curse!
9 bible reasons why Jesus was not poor
1. Jesus was showered with great treasures as a baby
Mat 2:11
The wise men brought huge treasures to give to Jesus
2. Jesus has many wealthy partners supporting Him
Luk 8:1-3
3. Jesus was able to pay for His entire ministry team
Luk 9:1-3;51-52; 22:35
Joh 4:8
4. Jesus generously fed the hungry
Luk 9:11-13
The disciples were not worried about insufficient funds to pay for the 5000 meals but it's just too late
5. Jesus had a treasurer
Joh 12:6
Judas was able to steal but never even hinder Jesus' ministry
6. Jesus never considered Himself poor
Joh 12:1-6;8
There'll be many like Judas who ask us why are we building the new building & not give to the poor?
Jesus said we can always help the poor but He is not the poor & we're building this building for Him. Not the poor.
7. Jesus cared for the poor and regularly gave to them
Joh 13:27-29
The disciples assumed that Judas is doing the usual- giving to the poor
Jesus has been habitually asking Judas to give to the poor?
8. Jesus had His own house
Joh 1:37-39
Mak 2:1
9. Jess wore good clothes
Joh 19:23-24
The soldiers even wanted His undergarments!
2 Cor 8:9
Jesus was in absolute poverty only on the cross
Jesus was not a billionaire nor was He showing off His wealth- but
Real prosperity is having the financial abundance to obey God's will whenever He wants you to, however He wants you to.
Work hard, not shortcuts
If Jesus says we can prosper this means we can do while keeping our holiness & purity

Kissing Frogs - a lesson in every frog
Europe has a 3% church attendance
Thus we should never take our church attendance, atmosphere & high internet penetration for granted
Num 33:1-2 (NIV)
Every journey had a stages & it should be recorded
We should be learning through each stage & God believes in re-sits of exams
Every stage has a lesson for us to learn
Thus we need to learn every lessons cause if we don't we'll be very busy as we need to relearn the previous lesson when we are in the next stage
If we fight our battles well, then our future generations will then be able to not fight that battle - David killed Goliath & his brothers which resulted Solomon being the richest king in peace time
Change is tough as it's personal
Change does not defeat people as it's simply physical
But transition is the thing that defeats people as it's emotional & mental
Our hearts & minds move slower than our bodies
Thus although the children of Israel was taken out of slavery but slavery did not leave them
Every stage of our life usually only has about 1-2 lessons to learn & God usually doesn't require us to relearn it again
We need to build big people - dream big but we need to work nonetheless
It's ok to kiss frogs as long as we don't marry it because we will one day find our prince
We all need to get bread for now but we need to also find our seeds for the future
Don't just listen for now but also for the future
God always enter our lives from the future- He call Gideon a mighty man although Gideon acts like a wimp because God sees him as a mighty man
Don't just take photos of people but keep the video going
If we based our lives on the photographs (failures) in our lives, we'll all be useless to God
Ps 139
My Rejection is my direction - it shows me which way am I supposed to go
We will always leave people & people will leave us
Destiny will require us to keep moving in life & find the right people for our destiny
City harvester : we need to know that we're not simply a fan but a season ticket-holder for the church.

24/01/2010 : The Power of Sacrifice
-Pst. Kong Hee
The Power of Sacrifice
Abel: Faith is a Sacrifice
Gen 4:1-5a; Heb 11:4
Prayer
Fasting
Giving
Sacrifice
Faith lies in our power of giving
Abel learn about faith through his father - Adam
Adam was covered by a lamb's skin by God after he sinned
Thus Abel know what is of value to God - a lamb
Abel gave an excellent sacrifice - God called it faith
Cain who couldn't gave a blood sacrifice turned into a bloody murderer
Abraham: Love is a Sacrifice
Gen 22;1-5, 11-14, 16-18
Abraham was tested but God didn't set out to fail him
God is a good teacher & thus He doesn't set out to fail His people
The first time LOVE was mentioned in the bible was for a sacrifice
Moriah - a place of vision
God wants Abraham to have a vision when he sacrifices
We need to know that our blessings is not due to luck
Through the sacrifice, Abraham comes to know that God is a Provider
We need to know that it's not in God's character to take but to give
David: Worship is a Sacrifice
1 Chr 21:22-24; 22:1,5,14; 29:1-4,16
David on the exact same site, Moriah, as Abraham also has a vision - to build a great a temple for God
Just like important people around the world has magnificent residences so does our almighty God
David gave from all his might - he prepared for eons!
David know that he is only a steward- a treasurer, manager & re-distributor
Jesus Christ: Salvation is a Sacrifice
Heb 12:2
Moriah is now the place of Calvary
To have breakthroughs in our lives- we need to sacrifice

-Pst. Tan Ye Peng
Vision that Enlarges You
Hab 2:1-2
Stop thinking about how to make ends meet - God will give us more
1. God speaks to us through visions
Rather than voices
Don't keep thinking about your visions in the past
If God gives you the visions, He'll also gives you the provisions to make the vision happens
All the great men in the bible had visions about their destiny
Jhn 5:19
Most people don't hang onto their visions beyond a few months
Jos 1:7-8
We need to move into our dreams & stay focused
1. Pray & fast
2. Speak about it
3. Act upon it
2. Set yourself in a right place to receive the vision
The first 5-15min of our prayer life is usually filled with the clutter of life thus we need to pray beyond 15mins
Imagination is more important than knowledge - Albert Einstein
3. God's vision will enlarge you
We always need to write down the visions otherwise it'll not come to pass
A small man is made up of small thoughts - Victor Hugo
Gen 9:27
Exo 34:23-24
1 Chro 4:10
Isa 54:2
Without a visions, believers will start living a careless life - people shall perish
Act 2:17
Don't ever lose your visions
When leaders are unwilling to dream, followers will be unwilling to follow -Andy Stanley
Most people don't succeed not because they don't have visions but because they want to achieve different results with the same actions
Unsuccessful people focused in survival
Average people focused on maintenance
Successful people focused in progress

1. Enlarge our thinking
Eph 3:20
Abraham - a nation was born out of him
Noah - saviour of the animal & mankind
Moses - deliverer of the nation
Peter - healer of thousands
David - deliverer of a failing war & his songs were forever sing
Paul - all his little letters became the holy scriptures
God always have bigger dreams for you
2. Enlarge yourself personally
We are always making choices in life thus we need to also make choices in the following areas of our lives
a. Leadership - not laws but liberty
Gal 5:13
Freedom to express ourselves
b. Serving - not hierarchy but heart
Mat 20:25-28
c. Ability - not self- centered but Spirit- centered
Zach 4:6
2 Cor 12:9
d. Discipline - not legalism but love
e. Creativity - not fear but faith
2 Tim 1:6-7
f. Love - not love but care
g. Work - not duty but devotion

03/01/2010 : See, I'm doing a new thing!
-Pst. Tan Ye Peng
See, I'm doing a new thing!
Isa 43:18-21
How should we move on the new year?
1. Forget the former things
Isa 43:18
Margaret Court - to hit a ball back, we always need to put a foot forward
Isa 43:16-17
Phil 3:13-14
Paul says we need to forget about the past (even our achievements) & press forward
The story of the sprinters:
Usain Bolt was running so fast that Wallace Spearman was distracted & shifted to another person's lane
People are attached to their past
40% embarrassments & mistakes
30% always worrying
12% things that hurt them
10% worry about health
8% thinks positively & creatively
2 Cor 5:17
All things have become new
2. Get a vision of new things from God Isa 43:19
This statement was said when the children of Israel was held captive - this shows that God never give up on His people even when they're at their end
Lazarus was dead for 4 days not merely very ill or dead for only a short while & could be revived easily. But Jesus is still able to resurrect him
Jhn 1:16-17
Zec 4:6-7
God's grace for the common grace
We can do common grace stuff nut with new grace we can do new stuff
All throughout the bible - God kept giving new things to His people
Isa 43:20
People around us will benefit from our blessings when it overflows out of our lives
a. Think positive thoughts
Learn to set SMARTER Goals -
Specific
Measurable
Action Plan
Realistic
Time Conscious
Expectation Management
Revelation
b. Visualize the Dream
c. Believe in God's Promised
d. Speak Out the Visions
Prayer will build up our faith as faith tends to leak as time passes - the Rhema that was given to us will bring us great faith & we need to consistently build it & protect it
Because Time is in God's hand - Abraham lifted himself throughout the entire 25yrs when he waited for his son to come
He also build himself & his character during that waiting
3. Give Thanks & Praise Continually to God

Zacchaeus climbing the tree
Luk 19:1-10
Zacchaeus was named to be pure but he was not.
But he was ready for a change
Jericho was a place for change- Zacchaeus was desperate for change
Pride & prejudices is hindering us from coming know- science has proven to us that there is no God? Thus it was believed that if you're learned, you're not supposed to be a believer

Johannes Kepler
Galileo Galilei
Isaac Newton
Michael Faraday
Charles Babbage
Louis Pasteur
Lord Kelvin
Max Planck

Cross of Calvary tree to see 3 things
1. We will see Jesus as the Savior
We'll see that none of our good works will ever earn us our salvation
Jesus has paid for all our debts
2. We will see Jesus as the Healer

The "Wise" Men who
Missed the Savior
Mat 2:1-3
The Bible mentions that there were 3 wise men & everyone remember them but not the scribes & the priests
Why? They've made 3 mistakes
Mistake 1. Trying to earn your Salvation
Mat 2:3
God is not short of money @ you can't buy Salvation from Him. Salvation is a free gift from God
Mistake 2. Refusing to believe in Jesus
Mat 2:5-6
The scribes & the priests knew the arrival of Jesus but they didn't go to Him although they know of His coming
Mistake 3. Fear of losing favour with Men
They're more fearful of King Herod than God.

20/12/2009 : Upon us a Child was Born
-Pst. Kong Hee
For onto us a Child is born
Isa 9:2,6
Christmas derives its name from Christ & not just another holiday
The Wright brother news was initially regarded as only the brothers coming home but news that they've flown was disregarded
Just like the birth of Jesus, today many doesn't know the reason for Christmas today. They only know the holiday it brings
Why does Christmas tells us of Jesus?
1. He is Wonderful
Jh 10:10
Luk
John Major story - British PM 1990-1997
He kept going despite being poor
Ps 35:27
Gal 3
2. He is the Counsellor
Jhn 16:13
Anna's story - Jesus gave her the courage to move out of the abusive relationship
3. He is the Mighty God
Act 10:38
Jianxiong's story - an atheist who had no problems with his health. He then had cancer but he was healed by God 12yrs ago
4. He is the Everlasting Father
Isa 9:6
There is eternity to consider after death & we're to be grateful that we can spent eternity with Jesus
Parents love their children no matter what we have done & what happened to us - likewise with God's love for us
5. He is the Prince of Peace
Isa 9:6
We can forgive others no matter what happened with Jesus in our hearts
San Diego crash Dec 2008 - forgiveness is possible with God's love in us.

12/12/2009 : The Journey of a Dream
-Pst. Kong Hee
The Journey of a Dream
There's such a thing called a Cain-natured : people will try to put you down
We need to be able to hold on to our dreams despite of the Cain-nature
Part of the journey will involved us thinking that our dreams have died - just like what the disciples felt when Jesus died
How to become a person of destiny?
1. Get your dream from God
Luk 1:30-33
Look at Mary - her dream was something that may get her to be stoned by others. She's living in such a culture
2. Ask God for a strategy
Luk 1:34
Heb 11:6
3. Let the Holy Spirit come over you
Luk 1:35
Praying in the Holy Spirit - so that we're cleansed by the Spirit & only dreams from God will truly fly & succeed
4. Get a promise from the Word
Luk 1:36-37
The Word & The Holy Spirit goes together
The Word will ground you while the Spirit will refresh you
If we only have the Holy Spirit, we'll be flaky
If we only have the Word, we'll be too hard
Mat 16:18
Isa 43
5. Surrender to the will of God
Luk 1:38
We need to have faith & trust upon God - because God wants us to live for Him & not for the dream.
We need to know God as our Lord not our Saviour
Can we move from being a believer to a disciple?
6. You will face the threat of losing your dream
Luk 2:42-44
Just staying in the church does by make us saved
7. God's dream in you will grow & increase in your life
Luk 2:52

06/12/2009 : Weekend Services with John Avanzini
-Pst. John Avanzini
Giving in Obedience
God lives in His Children and not just in places
God has written our life stories even before we're born
But why then isn't everything that God wants to be done all done?
After all there're angels right to help us right? But we've problems in getting angels to work for us.
So how come Christians can't get more things done with angels?
Who are angels? Angel are a servant-class of beings
Humans are a ruler-class of brings
Acts12:15
Heb 1:13-14
Angels are indeed supposed to be working for us
Psm 103:20
Above anything else, a voice must be heard- Angels have to hear the voice of God before they work
Angels will only work when what they hear are reasonable and sound commandments
Jesus speaks of moving mountatins - does He mean changing the landscapes?
Of course not, He meant the barriers in our lives - we can get angels to move it for us
Or an unfruitfulness in our lives - like a broker car
We should speak to angels like we're in awe of them but speak to them because we want them to move for us
1 Sam 15:1-3, 8-9, 12-13, 19-20; 22
Obedience is more important to God then the money that we bring to God
Because of CHC, now more and more churches are building their buildings debt-free
We need to keep on keeping on
We don't want to be institutionalised but we want to continue to be revolutionary and change the world for God
We need to bring our light to elsewhere
CHC has 98% tithers - thus we're blessed
We cannot stop giving in obedience
